You'll be thrilled to know that GM is getting rid of two corporate jets.
That's cool, 'cause they only had two, right? And now, in a show of responsibility, they've decided to give them up? Sell them on Ebay a'la Sarah Palin? Use the money to, in some way, stop several thousand workers from losing their jobs?
Well no. GM does not have two corporate jets. They have five. Five corporate jets which, according to ABC news, cost the company "several hundred million dollars" to purchase and maintain. (Actually, as of September, they had seven. They got rid of two then.) This month they're getting rid of another two.
And then there were three.
Now I think we can all agree that this is a step in the right direction, but you know how many private jets a corporation who wants the government to fund them so they do not have to file for bankruptcy should have?
Zero. Naught. The empty set. If you were to take the number sixteen, and then subtract sixteen from it, THAT would be the number of corporate jets GM should currently own.
Sigh....baby steps, I guess.
