Turns out Bill Richardson isn't going to be Secretary of Commerce.
According to him, it's not that he did anything wrong It's that it will take time to SHOW that he didn't do anything wrong:.
"Let me say unequivocally that I and my Administration have acted
properly in all matters and that this investigation will bear out that
fact. But I have concluded that the ongoing investigation also would
have forced an untenable delay in the confirmation process....Given the gravity of the economic situation the nation is facing, I
could not in good conscience ask the President-elect and his
Administration to delay for one day the important work that needs to be
done."
Fair enough. Also he managed to use the word "untenable" in a sentence, which I'm pretty sure would have made him a leading candidate for Secretary of Education.
Congrats to Richardson who managed to make his career as Cabinet nominee even shorter than his career as Presidential candidate.
